Company profile
HÄMOSAN GmbH is a privately owned SME (Small or Medium sized Enterprise) which was founded in Graz (Austria) as early as 1988. The aim of the company then was the manufacture of intermediate products for the pharmaceutical industry, mainly the production of BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin).
The epidemic emergence of BSE (Bovine Spongiphorme Enzephalopathy) in Great Britain threatened the market for bovine products of European origin. The worldwide distribution net for HÄMOSAN products – ranging from Australia and Japan to California and most parts of Europe - had become useless. This situation forced the company to accept the challenge and invest in scientific approaches to the TSE (Transmissible Spongiphorme Encephalopathies) problem.
In the course of ambitious R&D activities the HÄMOSAFE process was developed. The application of this technology reduces almost 6 logs of prion infectivity without destroying the biological activity of the model protein BSA. The process has proved an effective inactivation procedure for both enveloped and non-enveloped virus-types.
Today the company’s focus is on services. HÄMOSAN Life Science Services® GmbH offers consulting in life science, especially in the fields of virus- and prion-inactivation. More than 80 % of the annual turnover are generated from the transfer of know-how and show-how in this area. Furthermore, HÄMOSAN offers support and monitoring for Quality-Management-Systems in small companies. Cleanroom facilities for training purposes complete the picture as a life science services company.
HÄMOSAN MmQ (Management mit Qualität) GmbH is a promising daughter company founded in 2008 offering the customer a perfect combination of management experience and quality awareness. Training courses on the topics of Strategy, Leadership, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Innovation and Development are offered throughout the year. Marketing activities can be planned in theory and put into practice using in –house facilities and know-how.
