- HÄMOSAN GmbH founded by Herwig Reichl
- Original aim of the company: manufacture and distribution of intermediate products (of animal origin) for research and pharmaceutical industry
- Seed capital from the Austrian Innovation Agency and Innofinanz in Graz
Main products before 1991
- BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin) from bovine blood in various qualities for diagnostic and pharmaceutical use
- Market for bovine products of European origin collapses due to the breakout of BSE (Bovine Spongiphorme Encephalopathy)
- HÄMOSAN reacts to this by investing in international scientific and IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) activities
1991 - 1994
- Validation and patenting of the HÄMOSAFE process
- Only manufacturer worldwide of BSA that is free from viruses and prions by guarantee (HÄMOSAFE-BSA)
From 1995 on successful consulting co-operations for the pharmaceutical industry in the fields of process development and virus- and prion-inactivation techniques
1998 - 2005
- Co-ordination of research projects co-funded by the European Union under the programs BIOMED, BIOTECH and FAIR in the field of TSEs (Transmissible Spongiphorme Encephalopathies)
- International co-operations and research projects regarding the safety of human blood products involving the Finnish and the Netherlands Red Cross Organizations and the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service
- Organisational support provided by BIT in Vienna
1999 - 2004
- HÄMOSAN laboratory is moved from Graz to Vienna to the Campus Vienna Biocenter
- Production of hypericin and pseudo-hypericin (from St. John’s wort) is transferred toPLANTA GmbH
- Portfolio of the company emphasises on services more and more
- Development of the HÄMOZERT product line (support for laboratories implementing quality systems
- Development of the HÄMOTEST product line (test development and method validation) supported by finance from the Steirische Wirtschaftsförderung in Graz, the FFF and the WWFF in Vienna

- HÄMOSAN expands with the building of training and coaching areas for clean room facilities and quality management seminars
- Focus on support and monitoring of quality management systems

- A 150-year-old house for trainees staying overnight is being renovated
- 20th anniversary of HÄMOSAN
- Laboratory with focus on protein chemistry
- Second room for courses and seminars is adapted
- Marketing (strategy, action planning, graphics and layout) and printing center (printer, plotter, finishing) are installed in-house
- HÄMOSAN Management mit Qualität GmbH is founded as a daughter company
